TURN LIKE AN ATHLETE is a focused training block designed to help you build stronger, more controlled, and consistent turns.

We’re not chasing more turns by doing more turns.
We’re building the foundation that makes more turns inevitable.

What we’re training:

  • Deep core strength (for control, not gripping)

  • Scapular + upper body control (for clean placement and stability)

  • Supporting leg strength (for a higher, more stable relevé)

  • Lower body power + control (for push-off and deceleration)

  • Full-body coordination

This is about turning like an athlete, not relying on momentum or luck.

Focus

  • Increasing consecutive turns

  • Improving consistency across attempts

  • Building control from plié → relevé → finish

  • Making your turns feel lighter, sharper, and repeatable

Weekly structure (flexible by design)

You’ll have 5 training days per week, but you do not need to do all five.

  • Choose the days you want to prioritize (always feel free to ask in the community based on your goals)

  • Other days build the strength + stability behind them

  • Even 2–3 intentional days per week will move the needle

📋 CHALLENGE CHECK-INS

Week of April 13: Baseline
Share a video of your turns (pirouettes, fouettés, piques, etc.) to track progress

Note: Videos must be uploaded as a separate post in the community thread (the check-in post only allows photos).

Week of April 27: Awareness
What feels different already?
(ex: stronger push-off, more stable relevé, better control finishing)

Week of May 11: Effort Audit
Less effort, more control

Finish this sentence:
“My turns improve when I stop ____ and focus on ____.”

Week of May 25: Integration
Where are your turns showing up more consistently?
(center, across the floor, combinations, etc.)

Week of June 1: Final Reflection
Re-share your turns + one takeaway you’re carrying forward

Brighton Smith okay may be a mobility issue, try incorporating some lacrosse ball rolling along your erectors/QL once a day and doing some additional spine mobility exercises. I’ll make a note of this and provide more of those in future programs!
